Water recovery factors for New South Wales

The New South Wales Government, with support from the Murray–Darling Basin Authority, has been working on updating the 2011 factors. These factors will be included in the water resource plans for each New South Wales area, to determine whether the water recovery target has been met for the area.

In updating the factors, the New South Wales Government considered:

  • recent information on water usage, along with historical information on usage and carryover
  • climatic patterns over the past one hundred years
  • water trade patterns, including interjurisdictional change and trade between entitlement types
  • local rules regarding water access in each area through individual water sharing plans.
